The Aarhus Centre Novi Beograd established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and the CSO “Young Researchers of Serbia”, will open tomorrow in Belgrade.
The Centre supported by the OSCE Mission to Serbia, aims to enhance enforcement of environmental legislation and strengthen participatory governance in environmental protection in Belgrade and throughout Serbia.
It will contribute to the implementation of the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters in, and around, Belgrade and provide members of the public with practical resources to exercise their environmental rights granted by the Convention.
Since the establishment of the first Aarhus Centre in Kragujevac in 2010, the Aarhus Centre network has expanded to a total of five centres located in: Kragujevac; Novi Beograd; Novi Sad; southeast Serbia; and Subotica.
The State Secretary from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, Stana Božovic, and the Head of Democratisation Department of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Jan Lueneburg will speak at the ceremony.
