Ways to integrate gender-sensitive amendments to current policies that will enable men and women to better respond to natural disasters caused by floods and to improve community safety, will be the focus of the meeting.
The event will gather Serbian authorities in charge of emergency situations, water management, civil society organizations and the media.
Serbia's Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, Snežana Bogosavljević-Bošković, the OSCE Mission to Serbia Democratization Department Head, Jan Lueneburg, will speak at the opening. The Senior Lecturer in Disaster Risk Reduction at Oxford Brookes University, UK, Supriya Akerkar, will present success stories and best practises from EU countries on how to improve community safety through gender-based planning.
