Statelessness in the OSCE Region

Statelessness concerns a basic human right: the right to citizenship. It affects the lives of hundreds of thousands of people across the OSCE region.

In Central Asia, the OSCE and UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, are working together to support citizenship for these vulnerable individuals so as to end statelessness.

UNHCR, together with the OSCE’s High Commissioner for National Minorities and Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights developed the Handbook on Statelessness in the OSCE Area, with international standards and good practices, to help states ensure the right of citizenship for all: http://bit.ly/osce-unhcr
