The OSCE Programme Office in Astana, in partnership with the Zhaiyk-Caspian Aarhus Centre, is co-organizing a training seminar and roundtable discussion for some 30 representatives from the government, environmental NGOs, private sector and media on how to conduct public environmental monitoring and implement public environmental expertise based on best national and international practices in compliance with the principles of the Aarhus Convention. During the event, national experts will present a brochure on conducting public environmental monitoring and implementing environmental expertise which will be distributed countrywide among the other Aarhus Centres and environmental NGOs to assist in promoting environmental protection.
The event is part of the Office’s longstanding efforts to assist the host country in implementing the Aarhus Convention and to promote access to information, public participation in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters.
