With the support of the European Union, OSCE completes “Tactical Field Capacity Building” course for Tajik Border Troops in Khorog

Under Phase 3 of the European Union (EU)-funded “Stabilization of Tajikistan's Southern Border Region with Afghanistan” project, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe concluded its third “Tactical Field Capacity Building” course for Tajik Border Troops (TBT). The course was delivered at the Khorog Border Detachment in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

WARSAW, 15 May 2025 – The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) expresses serious concern following the conviction and sentencing of Grigory Melkonyants, co-chair of the independent Russian election monitoring group Golos, to five years in a penal colony, alongside a nine-year ban on public activities, after a verdict by a Moscow court.

The OSCE Transnational Threats Department, in co-operation with Beruku Identity, an expert group on digital identity, personal data and cybersecurity and forensic experts from Greece, trained 40 officers from the Border Police of Moldova and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on detecting and preventing vehicle document fraud at land border crossing points during an online training course from 12 to 15 May.
OSCE trains senior police officers from Khatlon region on victim-centered response to domestic violence

From 14 to 15 May 2025, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, in co-operation with the Public Order Protection Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Tajikistan, organized a two-day training in Bokhtar, Khatlon region. The course was attended by 20 senior police officers—all men—who head the Public Order Protection Units of the MIA’s regional departments.
