With the support of the European Union, OSCE concludes Tactical Field Capacity Building course for Border Troops of Tajikistan

Under Phase 3 of the European Union-funded “Stabilization of Tajikistan's Southern Border Region with Afghanistan” project, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe concluded its second “Tactical Field Capacity Building” course for officers of the Border Troops of Tajikistan held from 10 March to 5 April 2025 at the Khalkayor Training Centre in Panj, Khatlon region.

WARSAW, 2 April 2025 – Georgia’s new law ‘On the Foreign Agents Registration Act’, requiring all individuals or organisations considered to act in the interest of a foreign entity to register as foreign agents, due for example to foreign funding, and imposing sanctions for lack of compliance, adds to concerns over other legislation adopted recently and the law’s negative impact on civil society, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) said today.

Tajikistan enhances Explosive Ordnance Disposal capabilities

A two-week Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Level 1-2 training course for 14 officers from Tajikistan’s Ministry of Defense and Border Troops was completed on 15 March 2025 in Gharm, Tajikistan. The course, aimed at enhancing practical skills and knowledge, was jointly conducted by training officers from the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and the Regional Explosive Hazards Training Centre under Tajikistan’s Ministry of Defense.

OSCE trains outpost heads to enhance security along the Tajik-Afghan border

From 17 to 28 February 2025, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe organized a comprehensive two-week training course for the heads of border outposts serving along the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border. The training, held at a border detachment training center in Panj district, brought together 20 officers from the Tajik Border Troops, primarily from outposts in the Khatlon region.
