Amicus brief filings in constitutional jurisdiction have increased significantly within the past few decades. An amicus curiae brief may be a highly effective way not only to provide the constitutional court with the economic, social science, or political data necessary for an informed decision, but also serve as a tool that can be used by NGOs to promote and defend interests of different target groups, including vulnerable.
To equip representatives of legal community and civil society with this tool, the SPU developed and will conduct a series of training sessions. The training will explain the practical aspects of using amici curiae interventions as an effective tool to participate in constitutional proceedings to promote and defend interests of different target groups, gender equality, and various other public interests. The target audience of the training effort is civil society, legal community, law students and legal clinics, and civil servants. See Ukrainian version for details on how to apply.
