Political Integrity Bootcamp: Safeguarding Democracy, Addressing Strategic Corruption and Advancing Political Integrity

Since 2019, the Bootcamp series has served as a flagship ODIHR–TI initiative promoting integrity and accountability in political life. Each edition focuses on specific dimensions of political corruption prevention.

The 2025 edition marks the seventh in this series, building on lessons learned and reinforcing the regional community of practice around political integrity.

What is the event about?

The two-day Bootcamp will bring together representatives from TI national chapters, OCEA, OSCE Field Operations, oversight institutions, parliaments, and civil society to discuss strategies for preventing and countering strategic corruption.

Through expert-led discussions, peer exchanges, and practical workshops, participants will:

  • Examine the evolving nature of strategic corruption and its long-term impact on democratic institutions, drawing on Transparency International’s latest research and ODIHR’s integrity and oversight frameworks;
  • Discuss country experiences of foreign influence and misuse of state resources;
  • Explore parliamentary tools for scrutiny and accountability, including legislative oversight, anti-corruption mechanisms, and standards of conduct presented by ODIHR’s Democratic Governance and Gender Unit;
  • Analyse emerging risks in the digital sphere, with a focus on corruption and integrity threats linked to virtual assets;
  • Apply new methodological tools, including Transparency International’s 2025 Political Finance Indicators and the OECD Public Integrity Indicators;
  • Translate monitoring into action, in breakout sessions dedicated to developing advocacy strategies, reform proposals, and follow-up cooperation between TI chapters, OSCE Field Operations, and partner institutions.

Speakers will include representatives from ODIHR, Transparency International, the OCEEA, as well as experts from national parliaments, anti-corruption agencies, prosecution services, civil society, and international organizations.
