ODIHR is organizing a two-day training course on good practices in migrant integration for key stakeholders responsible for migration management, asylum and integration in the Una-Sana Canton.
This training course will develop participants’ skills and expertise on human rights-compliant policies and practices that support migrant integration and social inclusion. The course will teach participants about good practices in other OSCE countries and foster an exchange between cantonal authorities, international organizations and civil society representatives.
The training course covers key aspects of migrant integration and draws broadly on ODIHR’s manual Good Practices in Migrant Integration.
The topics covered include:
- Civic, cultural and linguistic integration of migrants;
- Migrants’ access to the labour market and migrant entrepreneurship;
- Racism and xenophobia, preventing and addressing discrimination and hate crimes against migrants and promoting social integration;
- Education of migrants in the host country and integration of children and youth;
- Health protection of migrants; and
- Social services and housing.
The course is based on interactive training methods and requires active contributions from all participants. Under the guidance of experienced trainers with proven gender and cultural sensitivity, the participants work with case studies and analyze good practices from OSCE countries and consider developing their own plans of action to implement in their sphere of work. The course language is English, with interpretation into Bosnian.
