The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the Council of Europe (CoE) are organizing a train-the-trainer course on addressing radically motivated crimes against Roma, Sinti and Travellers and promoting effective and non-discriminatory policing in Strasbourg, France from 27 to 30 November 2023.
The course will be based on a training portfolio developed by ODIHR and CoE earlier this year.
The training aims to strengthen the capacity of police officers working in Roma and Sinti communities and mixed communities. Participants will learn how to develop and implement effective policing strategies that are responsive to the needs of Roma and Sinti and comply with human rights standards; European standards on non-discrimination and standards derived from the European Court of Human Rights’ jurisprudence on preventing and investigating racially motivated crimes; and gender-specific issues.
The event is open to invited participants only.
