Ending trafficking for sexual exploitation: Lessons from survivors and activist movements

Organized by
The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), together with Equality Now, Apne Aap and eLiberare, is co-organizing an event on 19 October 2022 in Vienna to explore lessons learned from survivors of trafficking for sexual exploitations and activist movements. The event will take place in the margins of the 11th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Transnational Organised Crime (UNTOC).
Side event panellists will discuss emerging trends in trafficking for sexual exploitation (sex trafficking), highlight survivors' and activists’ mobilising and advocacy, and make recommendations to governments and international bodies on how to address the gaps in protecting people vulnerable to sex trafficking and bring perpetrators to account, thus contributing to UNTOC implementation.
Background
ODIHR has been active in preventing and combating trafficking in human beings (THB) in the OSCE region since 1999, addressing and tackling the issue through a holistic approach that is based on human rights, rule of law, equality and non-discrimination, and is gender-sensitive, trauma-informed and survivor-centred.
