Short-term Election Observation Training for Roma and Sinti: Call for Applications

The purpose of this Short-Term Election Observation Training is to empower and build the capacities of Roma and Sinti civil society organizations and activists to conduct election observation activities. Throughout the training, participants will strengthen their knowledge and understanding of electoral processes, international commitments and standards on elections, as well as the election observation context and ODIHR observation methodology.
The training is based on interactive learning methods and requires a high level of active participation. Participants will interact with senior election experts who will deliver the training. Training materials, travel costs and full board accommodation are covered by ODIHR.
Who is the training for?
This call for applications is open to Roma and Sinti civil society organizations and activists coming from any of the 57 OSCE participating States. The following criteria are considered by ODIHR for selecting participants:
- Roma and Sinti individuals who showcase interest and potential in conducting election observation activities;
- Demonstrated interest in acquiring new skills, knowledge and experience, as well as capacity and interest to co-operate with others, individually and/or through Roma and Sinti civil society;
- Experience and interest in addressing Roma and Sinti issues related to public and political participation;
- Availability to attend the training for its full duration;
- Ability to actively participate in English.
In the selection process, ODIHR will pay particular importance to ensuring a gender and geographical balance among participants, including representation of Roma and Sinti women’s rights activists and participants from different age groups, including Roma and Sinti youth.
ODIHR does not inform applicants who have not been selected for the training.
