ODIHR is organizing the second edition of the Young Women’s Political Academy as part of its project “Capitalizing on the Human Dimension Mandate to Advance Gender Equality” (CHANGE). The five-day training event aims to improve the skills, knowledge and capacities of young women in politics or entering politics to strengthen their meaningful participation in elected public offices at all levels of decision-making.
This year, the event will bring together about 20 young women politicians from four OSCE participating States – Georgia, North Macedonia, Poland and Uzbekistan – to set up a creative space for exchanges and capacity building.
The programme will provide insights into the democratic processes, women’s political participation, as well as violence against women in politics. Participants will engage with peers in interactive sessions on leadership, campaigning and lobbying, negotiation, communication, fundraising and building alliances and networks. Part of the course will be a simulation exercise, during which participants will be able to train their drafting, negotiation and presentation skills.
Prominent women politicians will join the event to share their experiences and lessons learnt with their young peers.
