Call for Applications for Young Policy Advisers Course

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in partnership with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan and the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin will organize the 10th Young Policy Advisers Course (PolAd) from 30 September – 4 October 2019 in Uzbekistan.  

Since 2014, ODIHR has implemented the PolAd, training young civil/public servants throughout the OSCE region, including the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, South Caucasus, and Central Asia. The curriculum, developed in collaboration with the Folke Bernadotte Academy and other institutional partners, is highly participatory and relies on mixed-method adult learning techniques including one-on-one mentoring, experiential learning (simulations and role-play), expert lectures, and peer-to-peer collaboration. The innovative structure of the week-long course combines concrete skills with curricular content specifically tailored to participants’ needs. This approach has ensured that the roughly 300 alumni to date have developed the skills needed to address sensitive policy issues in their countries, and increased their knowledge of OSCE commitments in the field of democratic governance.
