Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro and the OSCE Mission

For the purpose of continuing to provide the support to the Government of Montenegro in the process of reforms in the field of judiciary, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro and the Ministry of Justice will sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
The Memorandum is expected to facilitate the reaching of the joint goal – bringing the Montenegrin judicial system in line with the highest international standards and best practices.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding shall provide a framework for addressing the remaining challenges, particularly in the following areas:
a) Implementation of the Strategy for the Reform of the Judiciary and the Action Plan thereof, especially in areas of Criminal and civil legislation, Free Legal Aid, process of rationalisation of judicial framework and mediation;
b) Implementation of the Montenegrin Strategy and Action Plan on Combating Organised Crime and Corruption;
c) Strengthening the framework of regional co-operation related to the matters of trans-national organised crime, war crimes and other forms of direct judicial regional and international co-operation;
d) Strengthening the administration of criminal and civil justice and implementation of principles of fair trial within the framework of the ongoing “Court Monitoring Project” implemented by the Mission.
