The Code details how companies and other stakeholders should act to protect children from sexual exploitation and help prevent human trafficking.
In order to successfully implement the Code, the signatories will have to establish a relevant ethical policy, train the personnel in the country of origin and travel destinations and introduce a clause in contracts with suppliers, stating the common repudiation of commercial sexual exploitation of children. The signatories will also have to report annually on the implementation of the Code.
Supporting the introduction of this Code is part of the OSCE activities to strengthen public-private co-operation in the prevention of trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors. This project has been financially supported by GTZ, an international co-operation enterprise of the German Federal Government, and the Government of France.
