OSCE Mission Head Ambassador McGurk meets representatives of election management bodies ahead of 12 October vote in Kosovo
The Head of the OSCE Mission, Ambassador Gerard McGurk, met today with Kreshnik Radoniqi, Chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC), and Zenel Leku, Chair of the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP), to learn about final preparations for the upcoming municipal elections on 12 October.
In both meetings, Ambassador McGurk recognised the great responsibility both CEC and ECAP have for the smooth conduct of the elections. They were critical for credible, sustainable democratic processes. He also reaffirmed the OSCE’s continued commitment to supporting these independent institutions, in line with its mandate.
The OSCE Mission has supported the process during the pre-election period, including through expert advice upon request. In co-operation with the Independent Media Commission, public broadcaster RTK and Klan Kosova, the Mission also launched a media literacy campaign to combat misinformation and promote fair, balanced election coverage.
