High Commissioner Knut Vollebaek will pay a visit to Estonia for meetings with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Education and Research and the Minister of Population and Ethnic Affairs.
The High Commissioner will examine the reasons for the slow pace of naturalization in Estonia as well as the effects of the education reform on the Russian-medium education in the country.
Ambassador Vollebaek will also travel to Narva where the Russian minority in Estonia is geographically concentrated. In Narva, the High Commissioner will visit a teacher training college that prepares future teachers for schools with Russian-language teaching. He is also scheduled to meet with representatives of ethnic cultural associations and organisations of national minorities there.
