The inter-state dialogue was introduced at a 2006 high-level meeting in Tashkent. It aims to develop practical measures to strengthen the process of educational modernization in Central Asian states and to foster co-operation to further promote social integration within Central Asia's multi-ethnic nations.
The dialogue focused on promoting practical co-operation on teacher training, developing curricula and textbooks, mutual recognition of qualifications and exchange of experience in introducing modern methods such as distance learning, interactive methods of language teaching and multi-lingual education.
The delegates of the five Central Asian countries will adopt concluding recommendations to their governments at the closing session of the meeting and develop concrete initiatives aimed at enhancing inter-state co-operation in distance learning and information technologies in national minority education.
