High Commissioner Max van der Stoel sent a letter to Slovakia's Foreign Minister, Juraj Schenk, in which he put forth his ideas on the concept of alternative education for linguistically mixed regions.
He also commented on the draft law on the state language and the reduction of funding from the Ministry of Culture to various cultural activities of national minorities, despite an increase in its budget. The High Commissioner visited the Slovak Republic from 5 to 7 June.
