In a press statement on Latvia, High Commissioner Max van der Stoel restated his recommendations on changing the country's citizenship law.
These changes included granting Latvian citizenship to children of stateless parents born in Latvia after August 1991, as well as the simplification of the part of the test required for naturalization dealing with the history and the constitution of Latvia.
