These comprehensive training sessions will enhance the capacity of voluntary citizen patrols in conflict prevention, maintenance and restoration of public order, and in the provision of first aid to injured persons.
The sessions will train about 600 civil patrols throughout the country, covering such topics as holding peaceful negotiations with demonstrators, handling mediation between the conflicting parties, providing first aid and acting on the scene of a crime or infringement, as well as current legislation related to the activities of civil patrols.
It is expected that the trained citizen patrols will help the police maintain, or where necessary, restore public order through daily joint patrols, and will contribute to crime prevention through direct and face-to-face contact with the population.
