This event is organized at the request of the state agencies and the local population, who are concerned about the gold mining methods being used in the Uchkurgan forest (Kadamjai district, Batken province) and the negative effects on the environment.
Participants include authorities from the Osh and Batken State Agencies for Environmental Protection, representatives of local, district and province administration and of local non-government organizations.
The Chinese company mining gold in the Uchkurgan forest will present their mining methods and their environmental protection plans and activities.
The event is part of the OSCE Centre's project to promote the implementation of the Aarhus Convention.
