The OSCE Centre in Bishkek, the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities, and the Aarhus Centre in Osh will conduct a training series on radiation safety for local population of the Shekaftar village from 25 to 26 November 2016.
The purpose of the training series is to teach local residents basic principles of radiation safety and the effects of radiation on the human health.
Local residents will be able to increase their knowledge on radiation safety and the impact of uranium legacy sites on the human health and the environment. In addition, they will be introduced to methods and principles of radiation safety.
The five training sessions were conducted in Mailuu-Suu from 21 to 23 October and a three-day training session in Min-Kush from 17 to 19 November 2016.
The training courses are conducted as part of the project called “Stakeholder Engagement for Uranium Tailings Remediation in Central Asia” financed by the European Union and jointly implemented by the OSCE, UNDP and UNEP.
