The debates were not only attended by media representatives and experts but also many Serbian citizens, who spoke up about the need for more objective information in the media, Niš, 14 March 2013.

On 12 December 2012, the OSCE Mission to Serbia presented its annual Person of the Year awards at a ceremony in Belgrade. This year’s recipients were recognized for their achievements in the fight against corruption, media reform, police reform and the protection and advancement of human rights.

As an exception to its usual practice, the Mission decided this year to posthumously recognize Professor Vojin Dimitrijević of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights for his life-long dedication to the promotion of human rights and for his contribution to the establishment of the OSCE Mission’s mandate. Branka Dimitrijević, Professor Dimitrijević’s widow, accepted the award on his behalf.

Dražen Maravić was recognized for playing an instrumental role in the creation and adoption of the Interior Ministry’s Development Strategy for the period 2011-2016, a document of fundamental value to the police-reform process in Serbia.
