OSCE simulation training: Combating human trafficking in Albania

From 19 to 21 November 2024, in Tirana, 40 practitioners- including police, prosecutors, social workers and civil society- took part in a three-day OSCE-supported simulation training to combat human trafficking. Building on a pioneering similar exercise by the OCSCE Presence in 2021, the training sharpened skills to identify, investigate and assist victims through a victim-centred human rights-based approach. Supported by the United States, Italy and Norway, the project strengthens the training capacities of the School of Magistrates and the Security Academy.

The roundtable also spotlighted the disproportionate impact on Roma girls and promoted the newly launched publication “Out of the Shadows: Addressing the Dynamics of Trafficking in Persons Belonging to Minorities, including National Minorities.”

Today’s event offered a valuable platform to reflect on the insights gained, share lessons learned during the simulation, and discuss how these can inform future anti-trafficking efforts.
