Following an in-house training on live and emergency reporting in May, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro organized the second round of a training course for journalists of the national public service broadcaster – Radio Television Montenegro (RTCG) to improve their skills and techniques to better report live on developing stories from 3 to 5 October.

On 11 July 2022, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Dominique Waag, met with Mihailo Jovović, President of the Commission for Monitoring the Actions of Competent Authorities in Investigations of Cases of Threats and Violence against Journalists, Murders of Journalists and Attacks on Media Property.

Almost half of the respondents in a survey polled perceive the national public service broadcaster – Radio Television Montenegro (RTCG) as a metaphor for the term “television”, about 27 per cent watch the RTCG on a daily basis, while RTCG channels, in comparison to other TV stations, are the second most viewed in Montenegro. A large number of citizens noticed a positive change on RTCG 1, in relation to 2020 and, statistically, the trust in RTCG information program has increased, while 16% of respondents watch RTCG more today than a year ago.

At the invitation of the national public service broadcaster – Radio Television Montenegro (RTCG), the OSCE Mission to Montenegro organized a three-day in-house training on live and emergency reporting for journalists of RTCG, from 16 to 18 May in Podgorica.

Accurate, verified and quality public information depends on journalists, which is why independence, freedom and safety are crucial for their professional work, said Dominique Waag, Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro on World Press Freedom Day, 3 May 2022.

On 12 April 2022, Ambassador Waag handed over nine sets of mobile journalism equipment to the journalists of daily newspaper Dan, while on 15 April, three sets of mobile journalism equipment, three laptops, two printers and a drone were delivered to the NGO Context and its investigative portal Libertas Press.
