The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat organized a two-day online roundtable meeting, held on 3 and 4 August 2021, with national partners involved in the implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP) for 2021–2025. The meeting provided a platform for discussion on practical steps to implement NHRAP provisions related to freedom of the media and freedom of journalistic profession.

An OSCE-supported online seminar, held from 2 to 4 August 2021, focused on preparations for the Eurasian group’s (EAG) evaluation of Turkmenistan’s compliance to the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) standards on anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism (AML/CFT). Representatives of different law enforcement agencies, supervisory bodies, reporting entities, non-governmental organizations and other relevant government agencies and the private sector involved in the EAG evaluation process attended the seminar.

Management approaches and know-how tools aimed at protecting oil and gas infrastructure from natural or human-made hazards was the topic of an OSCE-organized online seminar that took place on 27 and 28 July 2021.

Promoting gender equality in Turkmenistan took the focus of a six-part roundtable discussion series organized by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan from 7 to 16 July 2021.

Best practices in risk management related to anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) was the focus of an OSCE seminar from 13 to 14 July 2021 in Ashgabat. Representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, its Financial Monitoring Service, the Central Bank, the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Bar Association, law enforcement agencies and other state institutions, as well as the representatives of the private sector attended the seminar.

Experiences in combating illegal drugs and precursors, new trends in drug trafficking and the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed during a three-day OSCE training seminar held in Ashgabat from 12 to 14 July 2021.

Best practices in environmental management in oil and gas sector were the topic of an OSCE-Centre in Ashgabat-organized seminar that took place on 8 and 9 July 2021 in a video conference format.
