On 4 and 5 April 2022, the OSCE Transnational Threats Department and the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities, in co-operation with the OSCE Academy in Bishkek and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), jointly hosted a two-day workshop on youth crime and drug use prevention in Dushanbe.

To help improve border security of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the OSCE’s Transnational Threats Department, in co-operation with the OSCE Mission to BiH, held a training course on identifying forged travel documents for instructors at the Agency for Education and Professional Training of the BiH Ministry of Security, from 6 to 10 December 2021 in Mostar.

On 19 November, the Transnational Threats Department (TNTD) and the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA) organized a technical briefing to discuss the impact of a regional project “Strengthening the fight against transnational organized crime in South-Eastern Europe through improved regional co-operation in asset seizure, confiscation, management and re-use”.

The OSCE Transnational Threats Department and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) organized a series of two events from 27 to 29 October 2021 focused on supporting States in implementing passenger data programmes, enhancing coordination between participating States, international organizations and private sector companies, and deepening regional cooperative partnerships.

A five-day OSCE online training course on the Dark Web and virtual currencies for criminal justice practitioners from the five Central Asian OSCE participating States concluded on 29 October 2021.

Legislators and experts discussed strategies and policies for effective and human rights-compliant prosecution, rehabilitation, and reintegration of foreign terrorist fighters and their families in South-Eastern Europe and neighboring countries at a Regional Policy Dialogue held in blended format on 14 and 15 October 2021 in Vienna.

New tools for preventing transnational organized crime were the focus of the 2021 OSCE Annual Police Experts Meeting (APEM) under the theme of “Preventing Transnational Organized Crime” held online and in-person on 7 October 2021 in Vienna.
