The OSCE supported the ninth annual meeting of the Permanent Conference of Organized Crime Prosecutors (PCOCP), held on 22 and 23 February in Belgrade, Serbia. The meeting gathered 25 prosecutors from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia.

The OSCE Transnational Threats Department, in co-operation with the Netherlands and Cyber Law International, organized an executive course on the international law of cyber operations. This course took place between 13 and 17 February 2023 in Skopje, North Macedonia.

From 30 January to 3 February, the OSCE Transnational Threats Department, in co-operation with the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, organized a training course for first responders on handling digital evidence at the Almaty Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On 24 January, the OSCE organized the third National Workshop on Social Re-use of Confiscated Assets in Serbia. The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Republic’s Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime, civil society and other international organizations.

Prosecutors working on organized crime and asset recovery cases in Serbia and a judge from the Belgrade High Court visited the German Federal Criminal Police Office in Wiesbaden for a study visit on 24 and 25 January.

Border security challenges in the Central Asian region, with an emphasis on the developments in Afghanistan and the resulting transnational threats affecting neighboring States, were the focus of the 17th Central Asia Border Management Initiative (CABMI) Conference held from 13 to 15 December 2022 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Between 12 and 15 December 2022, the OSCE’s Transnational Threats Department facilitated a training course on gender-responsive policing of violence against women and girls for 295 police cadets at the Sarajevo Police Academy.
