OSCE concludes training course for Uzbekistan’s canine handlers

On 26 September, the OSCE Secretariat Transnational Threats Department, in partnership with the UK Surrey Police Dog Training Center concluded a one-month training course for the National Canine (K9) Training Center under the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan. The course is aimed at strengthening the capacity of Uzbek K9 instructors to effectively use dogs in countering transnational threats through better detection of drugs, cash, and firearms at border check points.

With a focus on further enhancing co-operation between the public sector and financial institutions to counter the financing of terrorism (CFT), the OSCE’s Transnational Threats Department with the support of the OSCE Presence in Albania organized a training course on 24-26 September 2024 in Durres, Albania.

What we do: Policing
The 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Balkan Asset Management Interagency Network (BAMIN) took place in Struga, North Macedonia on 18 September. The AGM brought together asset management agencies from across the OSCE area to discuss several aspects in asset management ranging from levels of policy to national interagency co-ordination. During the AGM, France and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) were introduced as new members of BAMIN.
