What we do: Conflict prevention and resolution
The SMM continued to monitor the implementation of the provisions of the Minsk Protocol and Memorandum and the work of the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination (JCCC). The SMM followed up on media reports about interruption of public transportation from Ukrainian mainland to the Crimean peninsula.

What we do: Border management, Conflict prevention and resolution
Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Russian Federation. The Observer Mission (OM) continues to operate 24/7 at both Border Crossing Points (BCPs). Overall cross-border traffic flows increased significantly at both BCPs due to the upcoming new year. The OM continued to observe a significant number of persons in military-style clothing crossing the border in both directions. Train movements at the Gukovo BCP have decreased in frequency.

The SMM continued to monitor the implementation of the provisions of the Minsk Protocol and Memorandum and the work of the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination (JCCC). Ukrainian Border Guard representatives in the Kherson region told the SMM that train connections to Crimea have been suspended.

Kyiv, 30 December 2014- The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine provided the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) with 50 protective vests, 60 ballistic safety helmets and 5 laptops with software, to plan and manage humanitarian demining operations. The handover ceremony took place in the Service’s headquarters in Kyiv on 30 December 2014.

The SMM continued to monitor the implementation of the provisions of the Minsk Protocol and Memorandum and the work of the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination (JCCC). There were bomb explosions in Kherson and Odessa. The Lviv mayor’s residence was attacked and hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.
