The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to Ukraine welcomes the new impetus for peace provided by the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) that the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Martin Sajdik, announced last week in Minsk, said the SMM’s Chief Monitor, Ambassador Ertugrul Apakan, today.

The SMM monitored the implementation of the “Package of measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements”. Its monitoring was restricted by the parties and security considerations*. The SMM facilitated a local ceasefire that enabled workers to repair water pipelines in Donetsk region. A meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group working group on security ended without agreement on weapons withdrawal plans...

MINSK, 21 July 2015 – OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić, has stressed the need to seize the momentum of today's agreement on the withdrawal of tanks and certain weapons under 100 mm calibre for further advancement of the process during his first visit to Minsk today.
