Hungary is one of the original 35 signatories to the 1975 Helsinki Final Act and an early participant in the original CSCE negotiations in 1973. In addition, the country assumed the OSCE Chairpersonship in 1995. It has a Permanent Delegation to the OSCE and the Parliamentary Assembly in Copenhagen.

Hungary as OSCE Chair 1995

Every year, the political leadership of the OSCE rotates among the Organization's participating States. The country taking over the OSCE Chair co-ordinates activities and provides political direction throughout that year.
