Afghan and Tajik border officers complete OSCE training-of-trainers course
DUSHANBE, 29 November 2013 – Twenty Afghan and Tajik border officers completed an OSCE ‘training-of-trainers’ course under the Patrol Programming and Leadership Project in Dushanbe today.
The course is designed as advanced training for border officers who have already attended the basic patrol leadership course and will share the knowledge with their peers in their respective countries.
During the two-week course ten Afghan border police officers and ten Tajik border troops guards learned about modern teaching methodology, with a focus on adult learning theory, and on preparing and delivering training in an interactive learner-centered manner.
At the graduation ceremony, Ambassador Markus Mueller, the Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, said: “With courses like this one, we help improve the professionalism and skills of Afghan and Tajik border guards who will transfer the knowledge to other officers, thereby actually multiplying the effects of the provided training and contributing to greater border security."
The ceremony was also attended by senior officials from Tajikistan’s border troops and a representative of the Embassy of Afghanistan to Tajikistan.
