The OSCE-related track II New-Med research network, launched in September 2014 by the OSCE Secretary General, has started a discussion on migration and migration governance, with a focus on the Mediterranean region.
An expert seminar in Rome brings together an initial group of scholars and practitioners to analyze the current features of international migration across the Mediterranean basin and reflect on how multilateral organizations such as the OSCE can update or adapt their tools to address this complex and fast-evolving phenomenon.
This seminar will be followed by other track II events on Mediterranean migration throughout 2015. Convening will be accompanied by research activities. Several academic papers on migration are being commissioned to members of the New-Med network. They will stimulate a debate on the future of regional co-operation on migration inside and outside the OSCE.
