OSCE/ODIHR observer mission to present assessment of United States elections at press conference on Wednesday
WASHINGTON, 4 November 2008 - The observer mission deployed by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to monitor the 4 November elections in the United States will present its findings at a news conference in Washington DC on Wednesday.
The OSCE/ODIHR was invited by the United States government to observe the 4 November elections. As a participating State of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the United States has committed itself to adhere to OSCE election standards and invite international observers.
The mission's findings will be presented by Ambassador Audrey Glover, Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Limited Election Observation Mission.
Journalists are invited to attend the news conference at 16:00 on Wednesday, 5 November 2008, at The Ritz-Carlton, 1150 22nd Street, NW, Washington, DC, Plaza I room.
The OSCE/ODIHR observer mission began work on 10 October and consists of 13 international experts at the head office in Washington DC, as well as 47 long-term observers deployed around the country. The observers are drawn from 20 OSCE participating States.
