Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting on Combating Racism, Intolerance and Discrimination in Society through Sport
This Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting (SHDM) offers a platform for exchange among different stakeholders and serves as an opportunity for OSCE participating States to share and exchange good practices and strategies on how to develop measures aimed at promoting diversity, integration and equality. Special attention will be paid to sport due to its significance and potential to build social cohesion.
The SHDM will discuss contemporary manifestations of racism, intolerance and discrimination and how sport can serve as a vehicle to promote tolerance and equality, both within and across national borders.
The meeting will address the topic through the following three sessions:
- Racism, Intolerance and Discrimination: Contemporary Manifestations and Challenges
- Monitoring, Preventing and Responding to Hate Crimes, Racist Incidents, Intolerance and Discrimination, including in Sports
- Sporting Events as Confidence-Building Measures and the Role of Sport in the Promotion of Integration and Equality
Recommendations may be addressed to participating States, the OSCE at large, OSCE institutions, including the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, OSCE field operations, other intergovernmental organizations, as well as civil society actors in OSCE participating States.
Registration: Online registration for all participants is available at: http://meetings.odihr.pl. Participants wishing to attend are requested to register by Wednesday, 18 April 2012. Registered participants will be able to collect their badges in the Hofburg Congress Centre, in the main entrance hall as of Thursday, 19 April 2012, from 09:00. Registration during the Meeting will also be available on the spot.Side Events: the deadline for submission of applications for side events is Wednesday, 4 April 2012.
