Co-ordinator
The Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities is Bernard Snoy, who has held the post since July 2005.
A Belgian national, Mr. Snoy holds a Doctor's Degree in Law from the Catholic University of Louvain and a PhD in Economics from Harvard University.
He has extensive experience with international financial institutions: he worked for the World Bank between 1974-86, and from 1991-94 was its Executive Director representing Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Turkey and countries in transition (Belarus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Slovakia and Slovenia). From 1994-2002, he was a Member of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, representing Belgium, Luxembourg and Slovenia.
Other positions held by Mr. Snoy during his career include Economic Advisor at the European Commission (1986-88) and Chief of the Cabinet of the Belgian Minister of Finance, Philippe Maystadt (1988-91). His most recent post before joining the OSCE was Director of Working Table II (Economic Reconstruction, Development and Co-operation) of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe.
