The OSCE Programme Office in Astana will support a regional workshop on “Enhancing Trade Facilitation through the improvement of Regional Transit in Central Asia” for some 35 senior-level customs, transit and trade officials from Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus. The participants will discuss available instruments and approaches towards improving the transit transport potential of the Central Asian region by focusing on customs information sharing systems, customs-business partnerships, the Goods Under Cover of TIR Carnets International Transport Convention (TIR Convention) implementation and rail transit.
The workshop is part of the Programme Office’s multi-year efforts to assist the host country in promoting good governance and facilitating trade in the region. It falls in line with the priorities of the German 2016 OSCE Chairmanship of enhancing economic connectivity across the OSCE region.
