OSCE Presence in Albania

Under the direction of the Presence's headquarters in Tirana, project offices in Shkodra, Kukes, Gjirokastra and Vlora help promote OSCE goals in Albania on a regional level. They participate in project initiation, development and implementation both locally and nation-wide and they support regional Civil Society Development Centres.

Project offices are staffed by either one or two international and two national officers.

The Project Office Co-ordination Unit in Tirana co-ordinates activities between the Presence headquarters and the project offices. It also covers the capital region, which includes the districts of Tirana, Kavaja, Durres and Kruja.

Shkodra

Project Office Shkodra was opened in June 1998 and covers the northern regions of Shkodra and Lezha, which include the districts of Shkodra, Puka, Malesi e Madhe, Lezha, Mirdite and Kurbin. Its area of responsibility includes nine municipalities and 35 communes. 

Kukes

Project Office Kukes was opened in May 1998 and covers the northern region of Kukes, which includes the districts of Kukes, Has and Tropoje. Its area of responsibility includes three municipalities and 24 communes. 

Gjirokastra

Project Office Gjirokastra was opened in October 1997 and covers the southern regions of Gjirokastra, Korca and parts of Vlora, which include the districts of Gjirokastra, Tepelene, Permet, Korca, Erseka, Pogradec, Devoll, Saranda and Delvina. Its area of responsibility includes 15 municipalities and 67 communes. 

Vlora

Project Office Vlora was opened in March 1998 and covers the southern regions of Vlora and Fier, which include the districts of Vlora, Fier, Lushnja and Mallakastra. Its area of responsibility includes 10 municipalities and 45 communes.
