OSCE Presence in Albania
Good Governance in Economy & Environment
The Economic and Environmental Unit of the OSCE Presence in Albania follows relevant developments, helping to promote good governance and assist with property reform, anti-corruption and anti-trafficking efforts. The Presence contributes to the National Strategy for Socio-Economic Development, assisting the Government with social and economic reforms and promoting the participation of local stakeholders. It also works to limit alternatives that lead to unlawful activities such as illegal migration and trafficking.
With an emphasis on young people and women as vital contributors to a stable economy, the Unit also supports small- and medium-sized enterprises and human capital development.
Together with the ministries, local governments and other organizations, the Unit works to raise the awareness of young people about their role in environmental protection and management. With Albanian NGOs, it initiates and supervises projects that promote transparency, good governance and institutional capacity-building at the local and central levels.
The Unit is also in charge of technical assistance and support to the territorial reform process and assists the Government's decentralization efforts in this area.
