Robert Bosch

Robert Bosch, 55, of the Netherlands was appointed Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania in October 2007. He has served in the Netherlands' Foreign Service for 25 years, and has extensive skills and experience in policy-making and implementation, public administration and management.

Before coming to Albania, he was for two years Deputy Permanent Representative of the Netherlands in its Delegation to the OSCE.

He holds a Master of Sciences in general civil engineering with an emphasis in economics. In 2003, Mr. Bosch was appointed as Special Adviser to the Department for Western and Central Europe. From 2004 to 2005 he was the Special Representative of the Netherlands to the UN World Conference on Disaster Reduction, and in 2005 he served for four months as acting Head of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

His service abroad began with an appointment at the Dutch Embassy in Mozambique in 1982, and until 2003 he also served at the Dutch Embassies in Jakarta, Stockholm (representing the Netherlands in both Riga and Vilnius), Luxembourg, Vienna (also covering Slovenia) and Lisbon.

From 1987 to 1990 he was head of the Procurement Department at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in 1999 he became the Special Adviser at the Security Policy Department, where he rendered assistance during the Kosovo crisis.

Mr. Bosch is married and is fluent in English, German and Swedish.
