Na Međunarodni dan Roma, predsedavajući OEBS-u Ivica Dačić i rukovodilac za ljudska prava zalažu se za fokusiranje na omladinu u cilju promovisanja većeg učešća Roma u društvu

BEOGRAD/VARŠAVA, 8. april 2015 – Ivica Dačić, predsedavajući OEBS-u i ministar spoljnih poslova Republike Srbije, i Majkl Georg Link, direktor Kancelarije OEBS za demokratske institucije i ljudska prava (ODIHR), založili su se danas za unapređenje napora u pogledu većeg učešća Roma i Sinta u društvenom, političkom i kulturnom životu. Oni su, povodom Međunarodnog dana Roma, naglasili da je težište na omladini, kao i na obrazovanju, ključno za obezbeđivanje većih mogućnosti romskim zajednicama.
„Obrazovanje je ključ za otvaranje većih mogućnosti ravnopravnog učešća omladine Roma i Sinta u društvenom, političkom, ekonomskom i kulturnom životu. Osnaživanje omladine Roma i Sinta, kao i sprečavanje njihove marginalizacije, može da odigra ogromnu ulogu u stvaranju većih mogućnosti i ostvarivanju učešća u društvu ne samo za njih, već i za zajednice koje će možda jednom predvoditi", istakao je Dačić, pozivajući države učesnice da se aktivno angažuju u tom smeru.
Link je podvukao da bi neuspeh u korišćenju potencijala omladine Roma i Sinta, kao i njihovih širih zajednica, predstavljao propuštenu priliku.
"Marginalizacija i diskriminacija koju trpe Romi sprečava ih da ostvaruju i štite svoja ljudska prava, kao i da na najbolji način učestvuju u javnom i političkom životu, te da daju stvarni doprinos društvima iz kojih su praktično isključeni", naveo je Link. "Obezbeđivanje suštinskog učešća omladine Roma i Sinta, a posebno mladih žena, u relevantnim procesima odlučivanja predstavlja ulaganje ne samo u budućnost romskih zajednica, već i u društvo u celini u zemljama širom regiona OEBS".
Rad Organizacije u ovoj oblasti, koji se zasniva na Akcionom planu za unapređenje položaja Roma i Sinta na prostoru OEBS-a iz 2003. godine, dalje je osnažen odlukom Ministarskog saveta iz 2013, koja se usredsređuje na pitanja žena, omladine i dece Roma i Sinta.
Uoči preuzimanja predsedavanja OEBS-u u decembru 2014. godine, vlasti Srbije podržale su ODIHR u organizaciji međunarodne konferencije omladinskih predstavnika Roma i Sinta. Na toj konferenciji u Beogradu, učesnici iz 17 država učesnica OEBS, založili su se za veći aktivizam i dobrovoljno učešće romske omladine kao način da se mobilišu i osnaže njihove zajednice i stimuliše učešće u politici i odlučivanju.
