The OSCE Secretary General, Lamberto Zannier, welcomed on 22 November 2012 the Permanent Representative of Mongolia, Enkhsaikhan Jargalsaikhan, to the OSCE following the decision for the country to become the Organization’s  57th participating State.

“Mongolia’s successful application shows that our Organization continues to be valued as a forum where security issues can be addressed in an inclusive way. I look forward to exploring how we can further develop our fruitful co-operation on the basis of the commitments and principles on which this Organization is based.”

“Mongolia’s full participation in the OSCE will also strengthen our ability to tackle transnational threats in its region, while Mongolia will benefit from the OSCE’s expertise in supporting democratic and institutional reforms and in economic and environmental issues.” said Zannier.

Mongolia became a participating State on 21 November following a decision taken by consensus of all the OSCE participating States. Mongolia had been an OSCE Partner for Co-operation since 2004.
