OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier attended the Summit of the South East European Co-operation Process (SEECP) in Belgrade on 15 June 2012, which marked the end of Serbia’s Chairmanship of the SEECP.

Addressing participants, Zannier stressed the importance of regional processes such as the SEECP in promoting lasting stability and security.

He also welcomed the announcement that the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities Goran Svilanovic will become Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council next year. The Regional Cooperation Council was set up by the SEECP in 2008 as the successor of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe.

Zannier held meetings with Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolic and President of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov on the margins of the Summit. Serbia will chair the OSCE in 2015.
