South Korea an increasingly important partner, says OSCE Secretary General
SEOUL 29 April 2008
SEOUL, 29 April 2008 - OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut met South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan and other senior officials today to discuss Seoul's co-operation with the Organization.
The talks focused on Central Asia and Afghanistan, as well as developments on the Korean Peninsula and the OSCE's experience in building regional security.
"South Korea has played an active role with the OSCE since it became a Partner for Co-operation in 1994, and there seems little doubt that involvement will grow further, not least because of converging interests in Central Asia," said the Secretary General at the end of his two-day visit.
