OSCE Chairperson welcomes renewal of co-operation on election observation between ODIHR and OSCE PA

KYIV, 22 April 2013 – The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara met today with President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Wolfgang Grossruck, who was on a two-day visit to Ukraine. 

Pressing issues of the OSCE’s activities in the year of Ukraine’s Chairmanship, implementation of the Chairmanship’s priorities as well as the Assembly’s possible contribution to fulfilling the tasks of the OSCE were among the issues discussed.

While discussing the importance of further strengthening the OSCE’s credibility in election observation, the OSCE Chair welcomed the renewal of co-operation between ODIHR and the Assembly in this area on the basis of the 1997 Co-operation Agreement between two entities. 

For his part, President Grossruck said the Assembly supported the Chairmanship’s priorities for 2013 and welcomed Ukraine’s efforts to facilitate achieving the OSCE’s goals.
