The second regional discussion on enforcement of environmental legislation in the western Balkans will cover topics such as national obligations towards multilateral environmental agreements in a regional context, identification of feasible policies for improving implementation of effective environmental legislation aligned with international standards, and enhancing public participation in decision-making processes related to implementing environmental legislation.
Roundtable participants will include judges, state prosecutors, environmental inspectors, managers of Aarhus Centres and senior officials from the ministries in charge of environmental issues from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. Six international experts will also present examples of best EU practices in this area.
