Conference on media responsibility for war crimes in former Yugoslavia

The OSCE Mission to Serbia Media and Rule of Law departments are assisting the Office of the Public Prosecutor for War crimes in organizing a conference on the role of the media in committing war crimes during the war in former Yugoslavia.
As part of the conference, the legal study, "Words and Misdeeds" will be presented. The study is the result of a two-year investigation of the most influential media from that period which were under the Governemnt's control, viz., TV (RTB, RTNS), Radio (Radio Beograd), dailies (“Vecernje novosti”, “Politika”, “Politika Ekspres”), Magazines (“Duga”). The investigation was conducted by young lawyers, historians and analysts under the supervision of Vladimir Vukcevic, the War Crimes Prosecutor.
Speakers at the conference will include; Vukasin Obradovic, NUNS president, Ljiljana Smajlovic, UNS president, Oliver Vujovic, SEEMO secretary general, Boro Kontic, Media centar Sarajevo, Drago Hedl, "Jutarnji list", Zagreb, Hrvatska, and Omer Karabeg, Radio Free Europe.
The Head of the Media Department, Dragana Nikolic Solomon will be moderating one of the panels entitled, "Perceiving the past: the role of media in war crimes committed in former Yugoslavia".
